mike, my seniority date is 1/1/00- my route is 500 stops of business/multi/single family homes-what is your info(seniority/etc.)?- also is buying your place a contingency to transferring?I'll look into what the next step is.
hi mike from mass my seniority is dec 2007 here at this office i was a rural in nh alot longer than that from dec 1997 thru 2006 there. just like yours about 8 to 900 stops. mostly businesses, 1apt complex and single family homes. is management good in your office.?? how are the other carriers.?? is there OT??? Mass has an income tax, TN like NH does not. How much do you lose on your pay to state taxes? the property taxes on this nice home and neighborhood is only 1,900. 2468 sq ft no basement. quiet cul de sac. brick home on a slab big upstairs function room, 2 car garage. 2 bed 2 bath. owe 212,000 roughly. i cannot afford two homes, so it will need to be bought by you or someone else, so that i can end my mortgage obligation. my po has 10 city routes, 10 rural. ill await your reply

hi mike c. to answer your questions: ma income tax is about 5% my co workers are great. management is typical management. I understand about 2 mortgages. unfortunatley we aren't looking to spend that much so hopefully you'll be able to sell. we actually sold our house last year when we first started trying to get down south. we've been living with family ever since. so once the kids are out of school we're good to go! I'll talk to my union rep about the next steps. I know our records will be looked at. mine is clean how about you. where are you seniority wise in your office? talk to you soon.
mike dec 2007 my seniority here. my record is spotless. is there OT in your office?? work your days off freqently etc??? do you all have takeoffs there?? we do here! would i do just your route full time, and can i get ot often??? the house situation is the biggest problem, i cannot make changes unless i am mortgage free or someone such as yourself buys it from me. ill await your response.
mike c we don't have takeoffs. what are they? we get plenty of ot and i work about everyother day off. i don't know if you'll take over my route. i think when we transfer our routes go up for bid. we definatley won't be able to buy your house we might rent at first. so you'll have to decide what you want to do about that. i'll try to talk to my union rep tomorrow.
mike a takeoff is where you have an aux route, or another route that you split 5 6 7 ways etc with other carriers. we do this daily almost here. you do your main assignment in 8 hrs, and you do the takeoff or part of the other route on OT. sounds like you get more OT than here. i have not decided to do this yet, the mortgage needs to go for me, i need to be free of mortgage debt. as far as our routes, we do a mutual swap i believe. this means that we both lose our seniority again, but we take each others routes over as is and remain full time. i am undecided as yet. wait for your reply.
ok. I'll wait to hear from you. i'll need to know with in the next 2 months so my family and I can plan for the move if you decided to go ahead with it. thanks
mike did what i told you in this last thread match what your people told you about the switch. i have 900 hours of sick and i am maxed out on annual. tells you what type of employee i am. watch for your reply
mike c i haven't found out about how swapping routes works but from what i understand we give up our routes and they can be bid on by anyone with with more seniority within our office then we take over theirs. but i'm not 100% sure I have 800 hours of sick leave so sounds like were about the same since you have a few years on me. so what are you leaning towards? i know you have to sell your house and that you'd switch with someone from nh if you can but if you don't find someone from nh do you think you'll want to come here by august. my wife really wants to go. and if its going to happen we want to come down in march or april to look around and decide which area we want to live in. i know its a really big desicion. for us we'd be going somewhere we've never even been to so we'd like to figure out if it will be happening or not. just let me know which way you're leaning. thanks
mike which route would i end up with and what is it like, do you know???The makeup??? how many interim route adjstments have you had in your office on the various routes??? takeoffs. do you all split routes frequently and deliver other routes besides your own??? do you care that the seniority starts again from scratch?? its nice here, but its still different if your home is the northeast. wait for your reply
FYI guys, you don't get each other's routes. Whoever has the junior number of years in seniority is the new seniority date fror both of you. IE... if you are 1998 and the other is 1997, you will both be 1998. Your routes go up for bid, but you will be there at your new office by the time they do go up for bid, so you can bid on them. Hope this info helps.
thanks wags thats what i thought. mike c we do route adjustments every 6 months we don't have aux routes but with over 80 routes their is always mutiple people out so those routes are broken up and if you're on the ot list you get 1/2 to 2 hours of that route. I'm not crazy about loosing my seniority. I'm worried about excessing but we're willing to take the risk. my wife and i have lived in Ma our whole lives and really want a change. i'll wait to hear from you
